Yuletide Comfort & Joy - a Christmas Community event in support of St Andrew's Club

19 Dec 2018

On Thursday 13 December, St Stephen's Church in Rochester Row was filled with local people and those from further afield to experience the festive and musical celebrations of 'Yuletide Comfort & Joy'. Early arrivals warmed up on complimentary tea and coffee, served outside the Church by the event's generous supporters, Knight Frank, from their own coffee cart.

Yuletide Comfort & Joy delivered a wonderful evening of entertainment and fellowship - featuring readings, Christmas hymns, carols and songs. From heartfelt performances by the young people of Westminster School of Performing Arts and a magnificent rendition of "For Unto Us A Child Is Born" by Etcetera- The Civil Service Choir, to spine-tingling performances from Joanna Eden, an accomplished leading UK jazz singer; from the incredible trumpet skills of Alexandra Ridout, awarded the gold medal in the British Jazz Awards ‘Rising Star’ category this year to seasonal entertaining poetry, read by Noel McCalla; as well as more reflective thoughts on the Christmas Day Truce of 1914. Experiences were also recounted by a St Andrew's Club member.

Community truly lay at the heart of this event. Organised by John and Glynis Billett- local Vincent Square supporters of St Andrew's- Yuletide Comfort & Joy was also written and produced by John Billett.

Thank you to John and Glynis and to Knight Frank for ensuring the first of many more Yuletide Comfort and Joys was a huge success, with over £2,500 being raised for the benefit of St Andrew's Club!
