Club Closure
St Andrew’s Club takes the health and safety of its youth workers, members, volunteers, office staff and other users and hirers of the building very seriously. Due to the current situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) St Andrew’s Club and Gym is closed from Wednesday 18 March 2020 until further notice.
We will update this page regularly with any Club news and advice for members and their families, so please keep an eye here and on our social media (links below).
Members & Members’ Families
We will continue to do as much as we can for our Club members and their families.
With other Youth Hubs in Westminster and the Young Westminster Foundation, we are developing a dedicated web page with information for parents. This will include links to online sites recommended by youth workers as safe and educational. We have already put together some links for you to look through HERE.
We are also looking at the possibility of creating a ‘virtual Club’ to maintain contact with young people through social media approaches and digital outreach during this potentially isolating time. Please bear with us while we develop these resources.
If the closure of the Club is having an extreme impact on any member or member’s family, you can contact our Youth Club Manager Sarah on info@standrewsclub.com who will aim to direct you to local agencies who can help.
Our Staff
We are a local resource, with passionate staff who really care about their community. As such, it was pretty heart wrenching for everyone yesterday when the decision to close was made.
Many of our wonderful youth workers volunteered their time during the early days of this crisis, but further official recommendations advising against group gatherings mean we are unable to accommodate even a restricted Club schedule. We would like to assure our members, their families and all our supporters that our highly valued youth workers will continue to be paid, as far as possible, whilst we are closed. We are looking at suitable online training courses, which will benefit both the Club and their own self-development, during this period of working from home.
Our office and fundraising staff are fully set up to work from home and will continue to operate as near to normal, as circumstances allow.
Minibus Hire
We want to keep as many of our community services operating as possible, whilst official guidelines allow it.
One of the Club’s two minibuses is still be available for community hire. However, the hirer will have to sign a disclaimer that the bus will be professionally valeted before its return, as well as producing a receipt to show this service has been completed.
Please refer back to this page regularly as this service depends on us having staff available to manage it.
