Saturday 5 September 2020 – St Andrew's 10K Walk
St Andrew’s Club annual sponsored walk is remembered fondly by many former members. We brought it back into the Club’s calendar in 2019 and it turned out to be both a huge community success, with nearly 200 walkers participating, and also a fantastic fundraising event, with an astonishing £10,000 raised for the Club. These funds helped us to continue to enrich young lives by creating and providing experiences and opportunities for local young people.
As we’re unlikely to be able to meet en masse in person this summer, we think the next best thing to show our solidarity and community spirit, is for everyone to plan and do your own 10k walk (or run, cycle, or whatever suits you!) with family and socially distanced friends in your local area.
You can set up, track, and measure your own 10k route by downloading and using apps including 'MapMyWalk', 'Footpath', or any other activity tracking app. These apps also allow you to share and connect with others using the same app. Participants are asked to wear an item of blue clothing (to represent the Club!), send in your routes, pictures, videos and sponsorship to celebrate the community spirit of the Club and raise funds for the world's oldest youth club - only virtually!
PLEASE NOTE:
If you live locally to the Club, join Sarah, Youth Club Manager, and Adrian, Deputy Manager, at 10 am outside the Club to complete the walk 'together but apart'. The walk will begin with small, socially distanced groups completing the route. Make sure to bring own water and refreshments - Adrian will provide a BBQ at the end to refuel!
