Yuletide, Comfort & Joy 2022

15 Aug 2022

St Andrew’s Club invites you to our sparkling Christmas fundraising event, from 7.00-9.30 pm on Thursday 8 December 2022. Yuletide, Comfort and Joy is a festive celebration of music and inspired readings to support our work of enriching young lives in Westminster. It is a chance for us to celebrate our 156-year history with the Club’s wonderful supporters.

After two fallow years brought about by the pandemic, we are delighted that this year’s Yuletide celebration will be held at the majestic Wellington Hotel, Vincent Square, London SW1, courtesy of our partners at the Blue Orchid Hotel Group.

Those who have attended our previous Yuletide events will know what magical evenings theyare. Orchestrated by our generous supporters, John and Glynis Billett, of revered music management company JBGB Events, there will be two musical acts performing on the night. The London Vocal Project is one of the UK's leading contemporary vocal ensembles; the 24-strong choir specialises in a huge breadth of genres, from jazz to gospel and groove. And Jazz At The Movies, a quintet of all-star jazz musicians, has entertained jazz audiences for several years in major venues across the country; indeed, its series of swinging Christmas concerts has continuously sold out at Ronnie Scott’s. These musicians will perform many familiar and traditional Christmas melodies in their distinctive, dazzling and compelling styles. The music will be interspersed with a number of inspirational readings from the writings of Frank Horne, Lennie James, The Dalai Lama, Michael Morpurgo and more, delivered by singer and songwriter James Sayer; Carol Chell, former British children's televisionpresenter and TV executive; and Dolph van Eden, illustrator.  A special reading of Christmas Can Be Difficult For Deaf Children will be co-presented by Nicola and Lucy Gibson.
