Over the recent months, when the doors of St Andrew’s Club were closed due to the coronavirus lockdown, our team of committed Youth Workers, most of whom were members themselves, have continued tirelessly to deliver their usual services and sessions, where possible, in a virtual format.
David is the football coach for the current Under 10s team and, a member himself, has been a part of the Club for many years. During the lockdown period David adapted very quickly, developing an idea for football skills videos which he has committed to recording weekly. He not only sends them to us to use on Virtual Andrew’s, but also sends directly to the parents of his team’s players to keep a continual engagement going. This is a completely different way of working for David who isn’t as practised as others in the digital world. He began this period not feeling comfortable enough to be on camera himself, but over the weeks has built up his confidence and is now happy to be on camera even providing his top tip for surviving lockdown video - that really set the bar high!
David has really shown his commitment to the Club and his understanding of the importance of supporting and engaging our members and their families. He has provided our members with well thought out training, a familiar face and voice, and a taste of normality during these uncertain times. In recognition of his incredible hard work and commitment to the Club, we are awarding David with the latest staff recognition award – thank you – and well done David!
