St Andrew’s Club – Launch of Westminster 100 Club

01 Jun 2018

On Thursday 24th May St Andrew’s Club launched its Westminster 100 Club - a fantastic way for local businesses to demonstrate commitment to the local community whilst benefiting their business, and uniting their team.

Local businessman Tim Guinness, of Guinness Asset Management, introduced the event: “An elderly man I met in The Speaker pub told me how in the 1950s the Club was a saviour for the likes of him, for through it he began to acquire life skills and a perspective which were probably unavailable otherwise. This is a mission the Club still has – giving young people the chance to thrive and give back to society through its varied youth programmes – to help them develop educationally, socially and personally through a wide range of sport, art, practical skills, trips out and training”.

Tim is keen that local businesses, like his, sign up. With membership starting at £500 a year, if 100 local businesses took on a corporate fundraising challenge to raise £500 each year, St Andrew’s Club would raise £50,000 each year! What a great boost to the Club’s income to help keep this precious community asset going. Not only for local young people today – they will become tomorrow’s suppliers, customers and perhaps colleagues of the future?

Benefits of membership include: Meeting your CSR requirements with staff volunteer opportunities; Using the 100 Club logo certificate to display your commitment to your community; Uniting your team by holding a team building day at the Club, or running your own fundraising events; invitations to the Club’s supporter events.

Diana Saloustrou from Burberry showed what fun she and her Burberry team had raising money for the Club through a short film (below). Former member Chris Sweeney spoke of how the Club made a real difference to his life through sport and training. He now runs his own successful fitness business, based at the Club. Guests were taken on a tour of the Club and were uplifted by the experience of seeing the many young people learning, having fun, keeping safe.

Current members include: Burberry; Cayzer Trust Company; EUK Consulting; Guinness Asset Management; Knight Frank; Lock & Co Hatters; Rolls-Royce plc; The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders Limited; The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom; Tuckerman Residential; Victoria Business Improvement District
