We are thrilled to have 1 virtual place for the world’s greatest marathon, the London Marathon 2021. Take place virtually, on a course of your choice, from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59BST on Sunday 3 October, wherever you are on the planet! Amy Foster, Founder/Director of Lo And Behold Production is running the Marathon physically for the Club and explains why here:
“I love working with young people and seeing them shine. I fervently believe in helping to harness the potential for young people’s development and create opportunities for them to thrive. I was lucky enough to receive mentorship and support when I started my business many years ago and it was invaluable in helping me find the confidence to start the business and make it sustainable. I want to pass on that encouragement, determination and self-belief.
I love getting out for a run, mostly just to immerse myself in my local environment - particularly in the park or along the river noticing seasonal changes in nature but also pounding the city streets – London is a vibrant, dynamic city and seems different every day! I am a member of Good Gym, where we ‘get fit and do good’ which involves helping out at community tasks and it’s an active, fun community which has seen me take part in more races that I might have done otherwise! I’ve run 6 half marathons and 1 full one, but I feel like I’m starting from scratch with the training for London!
I can’t wait to run this legendary course whilst raising money for St Andrew’s Club – such an important organisation, a special place in the community, making a difference to so many young people - it has been especially inspiring to see how St Andrew's have continued to support the community during lockdown - and as we emerge from lockdown and what has been a very difficult time for young people – the resources and support they provide will be needed more than ever.”
