Ruffer Investment Management staff visit St Andrew's Club

27 Feb 2017

Ruffer staff met in the Theatre at St Andrew's Club for a warm welcome from staff and trustees.

They heard from Elizabeth Cuffy, chair of the Club, who explained the challenges of growing up in this part of London for many young people today and how supporting them takes hard work and imagination.

"Our varied youth programmes help our young people develop educationally, socially and personally. Activities range from chess to cookery; money management workshops to music production; volunteer opportunities and youth development to eye-opening trips through our contacts, such as last week’s tour of The Supreme Court. We live in a fast-changing world. An uncertain world. I want to be sure that St Andrew’s Club will still be around to support kids being born today and the next generation after them."

Edson, part-time youth worker and football coach at the Club explained how St Andrew's Club had helped him develop from a football-mad youngster to a dedicated football coach who runs the Under 11s team.

Annette, Development & Communications Manager, gave an image-filled presentation of the many ways staff could get involved, either as individuals, or as a team. From abseiling down their building in Victoria Street, to taking part in challenge events, to becoming a regular giver through a standing order or the payroll. All these ways and more will help raise funds for St Andrew's Club to continue to run this precious community asset.

Guests were taken in small groups on tours of the Club in action, which brought all the talk to life!

We're looking forward to a great relationship with the staff at Ruffer.
