St Andrew’s Club is delighted to announce that newly elected St James’ Ward councillor, San Abishev, will be running the Richmond Marathon on 13 September to raise funds for the Club and its vital work with children and young people across Westminster.
A passionate supporter of charitable causes, San has combined his love of running with a commitment to giving back to the community, raising funds for a wide range of initiatives over the years. From health-related charities to youth development projects, his fundraising efforts have made a meaningful difference to many organisations and individuals.
In 2015, San founded the Abishev Benevolent Initiative, a charitable programme dedicated to supporting some of society’s most vulnerable people. Since its launch, the initiative has raised more than £30,000 for causes close to San’s heart. Its work has included funding vital spinal cord injury research, sponsoring young carers, and supporting disadvantaged children and families.

St Andrew’s Club is proud to have been selected as one of the initiative’s beneficiary charities for summer 2026. San has lived and worked in the area surrounding St Andrew’s Club for more than a decade and is a strong advocate for the local community. As a newly appointed councillor, his decision to support the Club through this marathon challenge reflects his commitment to helping Westminster residents and strengthening community organisations that make a positive impact.
Challenge events such as the Richmond Marathon play a crucial role in raising funds that enable St Andrew’s Club to continue delivering fun, educational and developmental opportunities for young people. Every donation helps ensure the Club can provide enriching experiences that are accessible to local families.
St Andrew’s CEO, Sarah Nicholls said:
“We are proud of our Westminster heritage and the important role we play in supporting local children, young people and families. We are therefore thrilled that San has chosen to represent St Andrew’s Club at this year’s Richmond Marathon. His dedication to charitable fundraising and community service is truly inspiring, and we are incredibly grateful for his support.”
“From everyone at St Andrew’s Club, we wish San the very best of luck on marathon day and thank him for championing the Westminster community. His commitment and generosity are helping us continue support local young people to thrive.”
